OBD1 Nissan Consult Help!

Hello fellow nico members. So I just bought one of this obd1 scanner:( http://www.ebay.com/itm/370680076223?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT ) and I am having a lot of trouble trying to make it work with my laptop. it says I need to connect to a COM port. Now how do I convert a USB port to act is a COM port or if anyone has use this before, how can I make it work? I been searching for a while but no luck. Please help. Thanks.

I assume you are using the Windows OS? Which version of the virus are you using?

Yes, windows 7. What do you mean by virus?

Its been awhile but I use NissanDataScan and ECU Talk and as I recall there's a pull down window in both these programs for COM port connection. They both use COM 3.

Never mind, I got it working after 4 hours

This software is ECUTalk_v1.3.5


This one is Conzult


I will try more OBD1 Software to see which one is better. Thanks to the ones that responded.

Any verdict on which piece of software you found performed better?

Just pulled my s13 from storage, the mice were not very forgiving. I have some kinks to iron out and trying to not replace every harness in the car.

Hello NJMarc. Those 2 where the only ones that worked good. They should give you codes and do some readings on it.
