i have a question.

i have a '96 240sx .. and this weekend i will be acquiring a '92 DOHC KA (i plan to rebuild it)..

since the 92 is OBD1, and my car is OBD2, what all will i have to do to allow swapping of the OBD1 into my OBD2 car?

can i just swap the ECU, or is it more complicated than that?i was told that all i had to do was use an S14 intake manifold, and distributor. can anyone confirm or deny this?

PS: already searched; no dice

i have a 92 stock engine also. what are you planning to do to the motor when you rebuild it?

Motors are essentially the same with some minor differences in the head (has to do with the cams). All the emissions stuff is built into the intake manifold. What I did on my other car was use the s13 block and head and bolt my intake manifold to that. No cels, no drivability issues.

thanks for that post, that's good to know.

cuz everybody has been saying that intake mani + distributor will work, but all the posts seem illegitimate without proof

IIRC I used the s13 block and head, I used the s14 timing covers on the top and bottom, s13 valve cover, s13 cams, s14 distributor, and s14 intake manifold. For the record the s13 oil pick up is better so use that one.

I don't really know how to prove it to you, but it works. My car was also ka-t with no cel's. Unfortunate financial and general bad luck forced me to scrap the entire project. I am currently restoring my 3rd s14. You can ask Dan and Greg, they both will vouch that I know my ****.

Hope I helped you in some way. Good luck with your project.
