What OBD hookup is on those ECU connectors for the CA18DET engines you're swapping?

does the CA have OBD? If so I've never heard of problems arising from it...

really? Just change the interface harness? ... I thought those functions were parts of the ECU in a car. Dont insult me too much, but I figured its a legit question. How do people monitor these kinds of engines when they're diagnosing problems with it... or are they much simpler than I am thinking?

i'm not flaming you, i'm not really sure the way you would diagnose problems, find a FSM

It's pretty easy to read the codes on the ecu! Turn the key to the on position and rotate the dial on the ecu until you see 3 flashes then rotate it back quickly and wait for the coddes to flash. Codes will be read via the red and green lights. If the red light flashes twice and the green light flashes once, then your code is which is your ignition system detecting a fault. Hope this helps........

or you could go to Nissan/Infiniti Dealer and ask if they would sell you the nissan/infiniti consult scanner then just plug it into the white plug of the harness to read your codes.... heres a link about it http://300zx-twinturbo.com/conzult/faq.htm nice little scanner!! I used it when i worked for infinti when i did schedule maintanance and PDI's (pre-delivery inspection) when they came off the tractor trailers

Even the conzult (read: knockoff of consult) is 500 dollars at the lowest. That's ridiculous! I know what went into creating that and the software that runs it (conzult, not consult) and it's nowhere near worth that price. It's actually making me think I should develop my own and give it away for free... wouldn't that piss them off, hahahaha

I was curious if the engine/car had the OBD system since its pretty old. .. well, mine is... I dont have the CADET swapped in yet, I'm shopping and getting things in order before I do but its good to research the background stuff when I go to build the engine.

I'm rebuilding the CA20E in the car right now so that I can at least use it as a clunker on the road, and to figure out what I need to modify on the frame. For an old car, it sure has some technology sunk into it.
