I just got a obd II gun, but I don't know where to put it in to diagnose it. I have a 1995 240sx se.

never hear of an obd II "gun" but it should plug into the white connector under your dash should be near your knees on the drivers floor board or near the left leg of the passenger

I was wondering, that white connector, is it already plugged into something so that I have to unplug whatever connector is in there or is it an open slot?

no it is not plugged into anything. the only problem here is your car is pre OBDII requirements so the scanner may not work with your car. 96 was the first year OBDII was a requirement on cars. some 95's had the connector and some didnt. this connector your looking for has a tapper at each end of it that will match the tapper on the scanners connector.

Well my cars hood says obd II ceritified. So I'm gonna try to do that tomorrow. I think I found it. It's hidden within the glove compartment.

if the hood says obdII certified you will have a plug. In the glove box does not suprise me the first year of those they were all over the dash area in 96 though nissan located almost all of them in the drivers knee area.

Ok. I plugged in the reader. However, with the key on, but not starting position. But the reader says car not responding. What does that mean? I check the keys and cable. I have an autoxray ez-read 1000.

Nistech, I was wondering, is it possible that even though it says obd II certified on the hood, and has the connector, that a obd II reader wont work?

yes it is possible the reader wont work since its software is for 96 and newer because obdII was not required till 96 and most maufacturers only had partial OBDII compliance achevied in 95[including nissan/infiniti]
