Hi All:

The Check Engine light came on today in my 1996 Q45.

I hooked up the OBD II and it read P0340 - According to the book with the scanner, it means "Camshaft Position Sensor A - Bank 1 Circuit Malfunction".

I did a search and cannot find any further information on this. Please provide me with any advice or guidance as to the problem and the fix.

Thanks.

Cam Position Sensor (CPS), also known as CAS (Crank Angle Sensor) on this forum.

Sometimes, the connector gets iffy. You should pull it and clean it - coat it with some dielectric grease - easy and free.

Did you recently get your oil changed? If so,did the idiots attempt to get to the filter from above?

Oil was changed about 700 miles ago - first time I did not do it myself. I think they did try to get it from above (I heard them complaining about removing the pan/shroud from underneath).

I will try to remove the sensor and clean it.

Thanks!

NEVER let anyone who will not remove the under engine tray completely change your oil

it is not the MAF that is dirty, it is the MAF connector that usually gets fubared by the pit monkeys.

I agree...I told them ahead of time the engine pan MUST be removed oil done from below. I will try cleaning the MAF connector this weekend.

Thanks for the help.
