Hi,

I have a 2005 350z Anniversary. The cats are testpipe and intake is changed with a short ram by the previous owner.

Recently it's been throwing code 1283. When I clear the SEL, it stays off for a while but it flickers on and off. It flickers on whenever i release the gas pedal and goes off right away.

It's been throwing o2 sensor 1146 errors but without the spacers. I will put in a spacer this week on both o2 sensor rear of the cats.

Does anyone have ideas what this1283 might be caused by?

Thank you

P1283 is an A/F ratio fault, "Air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 (Bank 2) lean shift monitoring" to be precise. It could be any number of things...

(A/F) sensor 1 - (A/F) sensor 1 heater - Fuel pressure - Fuel injector - Intake air leaks

Is the car running ok? Does it hesitate, stumble or idle roughly? What's your MPG look like? I suppose the previous owner could have knocked the sensor out of place or damaged it, but sensor 1 is near the exhaust manifold...are there aftermarket headers installed? I can't imagine dinging it doing a short ram and test pipes.

You need to sort it out though, if the sensor is bad that's one thing, but if it's right and and you're running lean you're risking lean misfiring/detonation.

Thanks for the reply

The mpg seems like it is a bit on a low side. With everyday commute it's 22+mpg instead of 24+ that i used to get. Little short of 10% reduction.

The car seems to run ok. There are no aftermarket headers installed.

If the sensors are right and the A/F mixture to be too lean, it requires immediate attention?

Would the repair fee be expensive for these kind of problems?

When I put my foot off of the gas, it makes a weird high pitched whistle noise from the back around 4,000rpm. (not when accelerating)
