Hello, i am new to the forum and looking for any suggestions on how to troubleshoot my problem. I have a 97 pathfinder that i just purchased and took to get smogged today. They were unable to run the test because the smog machine and the OBD cannot communicate with the computer. None of the dash lights are on and the pathfinder runs excellent. I have checked the fuses in the fuse panel in the dash and all seem to be fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Check all of the fuses. It's usually the same one the cigarette lighter uses.

'97 FSM says the cigarette lighter is on fuse #13.

I couldn't find the fusing for the data link connector in the FSM.

Does the engine light come on before you start the truck?
It is possible the light has been disabled or burnt out.

It should be on before youstart and turn off after.

I checked the lighter fuse, it was good. I decided to pull each fuse one by one for a visual inspection and found one blown fuse in slot 24 of the fuse block. It is labeled "ELEC B" and is a 7.5 fuse. I replaced it and VICTORY! I tested the data link connector and now have 12v power to it. Also my keyless entry is working now( I was going to work on that next because i was not sure if it was equipped with it or not). THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! I am glad to have joined this forum! :dblthumb:
