Trying to use my OBD-II (On Board Diagnosis) wireless reader, but it will no longer broadcast. I suspect that the port has a blown fuse preventing the reader from powering up. Does anyone know which fuse controls the OBD-II port?

Boy, I hate that you can't edit your topic header after auto-correct mangles it.

Which one are you using, how long have you had it? I've been thinking of getting one of the mini ones, and I've heard about them not broadcasting after a while or having issues locking up on the BT.

i had been using a cheap Chinese-made wi-fi adapter, an ELM-327. It worked fine with DashCommand for iPhone, but not so well with the Dash app. I removed the adapter after my car's battery ran down once, which may have been due to the drain from the wi-fi adapter. I recently purchased an Automatic Bluetooth adapter (2nd generation). That's when I discovered that the OBD-2 port was not getting power, as the Automatic adapter was not getting power to make a Blue tooth connection. I tried the ELM-327 again, and it was not getting power, either.

Does anyone have handy a picture of the fuse box legend, showing which circuits are controlled by the fuses? I looked at the manual and the shop manual, and could not find that information.

Both of the cigarette lighter power ports seem to be working fine.

The diagram isn't in the FSM? That's odd.

Yes, seems odd. I looked for it but could not find it. I am told by an Infiniti tech that the fuse is a 10 amp fuse in slot number 12, on the far left bottom row. The legend for that fuse is "ELEC PARTS". I was able to pull the fuse. I can't tell if it is actually blown or not. I tried inserting a spare, but it is such a hard fuse slot to get too. I am trying to use a fule puller to guide in the fuse but I can't seem to get it. I;ll try again later with some needle-nose pliers.

Well, taking the #12 fuse out locks out the transmission. I was able, using needle-nose pliers, to get the fuse back in, and was able to use the car again! Now the MIL light ("Service engine soon" light has come on steady! I still can't get the OBD-2 adapters to power up. I guess now I have to have a professional check the OBD and see if they can pull the coses and clear them. I still don't know for sure that there is not a different fuse that handles the OBD-2 port power.

Its not a fuse, or anything wrong with the OBD-ll port, its the reader that you are using is not being powered up by the port. There are some readers, both bluetooth and wireless that don't work with our ports. Try a different one.

Hmmm. The wi-fi one worked before, although it was flakey with the Dash app, as in it would drop connections all the time. The Automatic Bluetooth is supposed to be compatible with he M45. I guess the thing to do is have a local shop check it with their OBD-2 reader to see what might be going on.

The reason I said what I did, was because I had a bluetooth reader that did not work either, thinking it was the OBDll port was not getting power, I bought another one, and what do you know, it worked so make sure it is working properly.

Good point; I'll try the Bluetooth adapter on another vehicle and try a different one on my car.

I had a free code scan at AutoZone today. The OBD-II reader could not communicate with the car with the key on accessory, but when he started the car, he was able to pull off three codes. One was a fuel level fault, and he other two were OBD-II related faults. So, I'm still thinking that there is a power issue with the OBD-II port. I bought some extra fuses and a fuse tester and am still going to replace a few fuses to see if I can find a fuse that controls the power feed to he port.

Anyone solve this issue yet? I have to get an inspection sticker and the ODB-II port has no power.

I was not able to determine why the OBD-II port is not powered. I checked all the fuss that I could find, but They all seemed fine. There must be something that is blown, but I can't find it.

Found this on a 370z forum with the same problem:

That switch is in the middle of the fuse box inside driver's side, I believe.

The picture that they show on the Nissan does not look like my fuse box on the M45.

I have the same issue with my 2009 M35. I tried with two scanners and none get power from the OBD port. Is there a troubleshooting guide for these type of issues? Any suggestions what to try next?

Ignition to the DLC is on fuse 12, battery on fuse 19.

I confirmed that there is power coming to the cigar lighter. Below is the diagram of my fuse box. At this point should the OBD port be replaced? Any other recommendations?

Power to the OBD does not come from the lighter fuse. The WD shows 12/19, and I'm unaware of any Nissan that uses the lighter fuse for that.

Just an aside, but as frequently as people blow lighter fuses with malfunctioning devices and bad plugs, only an engineer who got his degree from Cracker Jack would put anything else important on the circuit. Lighter fuses are pretty much always stand-alone from all manufacturers.

I keep getting an “ECM not found” error on my Carly scanner when I try to pull codes for my CEL. The device powers on but doesn’t complete a scan. It works on other vehicles just not my 2006 M45. Any ideas what would cause this?
