Whether you like him or not, whether you agree with his policies or not, we all should reflect a little (or a lot) on the official nomination of Obama by the Democratic Party tonight. For those of us who are old enough to have witnessed Martin Luther King, the civil rights movement, etc. it's pretty remarkable that we've come this far this quickly as a nation to accept a minority candidate for President.

Without any kind of upheaval militarily, the United States is pretty much the only country in the world I can think of where this hass happened.

For all of our differences here politically, here's to you, America!

Come this far...

Why should his race even matter? As long as we continue to draw the line it will be there. Even if you draw it for a "positive" reason, you are still drawing it. A man was nominated, nothing more.

It never should matter. But to a large segment of the population it still does. What happened tonight is proof that we are still evolving, still making progress as a country. Race used to be a barrier in pro sports, it's now not even a consideration. Tonight is a step in that direction politically. This sets the groundwork for ignoring a person's race in future presidential campaigns.

Hmmm ... let's see ... how does that song go again? Ah, yes! Here we go ...

Wishin', and hopin', and thinkin', and prayin',Planning and dreamin' each night of his charms. That won't get you into his arms

So if your're looking for love you can shareAll you gotta to is hold him, and kiss him, and love him,And show him that you care.

Show him that you care, just for him.Do the things that he likes to do.Wear your hair just for him, 'cause,You won't get him, thinkin' and a prayin',Wishin' and hopin'.

'Cause wishin', and hopin', and thinkin', and prayin',Planning and dreamin' his kisses will start. That won't get you into his heart!

So if you're thinking how great true love isAll you gotta to is hold him, and kiss him, and squeeze him, and love him.Yeah, just do it!And after you do, you will be his.

You gotta show him that you care just for him.Do the things that he likes to do.Wear your hair just for him, 'cause,You won't get him, thinkin' and a prayin',Wishin' and a hopin'.

You will be his.

You will be his!

I wonder if they played this at the DNC!

Bill made an awesome speech. That' was ranked A overall by everyone. He's just as good or better than Obama on speeches.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITI...yview

Look at the comment at the bottom.

Quote »Bill Clinton's a much better performer than his wife, and he is much better able to be convincing. Then again, everyone's learned that what Bill Clinton says isn't necessarily the truth. - Leslie Sanchez [/quote]Liberals still haven't applied that logic on Obama, yet.

That's not very creative. If you wanted to be really condescending you would have posted this.

I was talking with my dad today and we started talking about who we're voting for. I still am not sure, but my dad, he's got this all figured out, he has a voting strategy. Ready? He's a conservative guy, politically speaking. Always has been for as long as I've been around. But this year, he's taking a turn for voting for Obama, strategically. Strategically meaning voting for Obama in that he'll win, the whole Democratic party will fail in the face of the rest of the world as they are with Congress, and people 4 years from now will be like, "What were we thinking about all this change for," and all vote for the GOP to take full control again. Haha, I thought that was pretty good.

Heheh, that's my consolation strategy. I'll be voting for McCain, but at least if Obama wins, it'll be fun to watch another inept Democratic administration, like Carter's.

It'll be nice for EVERYTHING to be the Democrats' fault, for a change. That's a Change I could get behind.

I'd say there is one problem with your dad's plan. Assuming the dems fell absolutely and unequivicly flat on their face, they could do no worse than tie the reps. record for the last 8 years.

Oh, nevermind. Based upon your opinion the failure of the dem controlled congress over the last 2 years is still big-bad Bush.

I'm gonna just go ahead and stop blaming congress as a whole for being responsible for the mess we are in. Now, Pelosi/dean and the democratically controlled congress is directly responsible for the housing issues and the price of gas today because they are running the show.

For those that caught Jimmy Carter's interview he put it very well.
