I fully understand that. But there is a difference between interviewing and some weeding vs the two times Obama has been talking to/in front of "the troops". In one, you could hear a pin drop with very little applause or excitement from a very good sized audience. The second, where they were pre-screened, it was total massianation and there seemed to be far less personnel there.
There was one big press run against Bush and it was when military personnel who were wanting to as questions were talked to prior the event. BUT, they were never told what to say in the least. In the medium and bigger events, the huge majority was clapping and screaming. Seems to be a drastic difference.
Of course, you are closer to the military than I to get a true sense of what is really going on.
