No he is like Carter. Ike actually did some stuff before and during his presidency. The next time you take a trip on the interstate give Ike a nod.

No way. Truman was bare-knuckled political scrapper. Obama can't even keep his own party in check.

I get the impression that Obama isn't trying to keep his own party in check. It helps the "adult in the room" narrative. It doesn't look like he's particularly concerned with the well-being of the Democratic Party, at least in its current Congressional form. He unilaterally gave in to demands Republicans weren't actually making when it came to the healthcare bill, in order to get something that looked the way a bipartisan effort would have looked.

The similarities would be more obvious had the photo of the Big O showed the military decorations on his jacket.

Obama is a pawn for the people in his posse. I dont even think he is capable of self awareness. If his cabinet was wiped out somehow all of a sudden, he'd probably implode. I question whether he has ever even made a decision of his own volition. Really makes you wonder if cabinet members should really just be appointed.

Unacceptable. I know a guy who knows a guy who can "wrap up" your "problem" real quick.

I'm kidding, Mrs. Stebo, go back to whatever.

Whatever faults the guy may have, he is plainly NOT a party stooge.

If he was, you'd have seen a ton of gun control legislation/rhetoric, but we've seen almost none.

I dont mean to say he's a party stooge, more of a cabinet stooge. He has chosen people to surround himself with, that will make the decisions for him, or, give recommendations that he will just categorically say yes to.

EDIT: Its also arguable that W was the same way, was just a matter of who made the recommendations.

I think that has some weight. Obama scared me because I saw him as extreme, but the more I get to know him, the more his lack of a spine shows, I get concerned because he is weak. Bush similarly seemed to be in the passenger seat of his presidency. The difference I see is he had moments of self actualization that bordered on a bit of a temper, Iraq? Obama gets more milquetoast as the days go by and it's really worrisome because he still surrounds himself with bad people. I WISH he was like Truman. I WISH he was like IKE, but he's not. He's the guy that is going to give Carter someone to clown on. It's a shame. he seems like a nice guy. I would welcome him reaching down and grabbing some and sparring with the Republicans. He is supposed to lead and he has not. this has been as much Nancy Pelosi's and Harry Reid's administration as Barrack Obama's. :tisk:

If he were like Ike, what would be different?

After the way the healthcare reform law went, I don't think this bears much truth.

The health care law was a perfect example. Where was Obama for "his side?" Wringing his hands. Weak man.
