LOL! Yep, I caught that on TV last night. Not only did they both vote for the omnibus transportation bill that included the earmark for the bridge, but ...

Both Biden and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama voted to kill a Senate amendment that would have diverted federal funding for the bridge to repair a Louisiana span badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, Senate records show.

Nice!

It's ammunition at least for the republicans to fight back a bit.

From what I understand, the "Bridge to Nowhere" did actually have value to the community. It was supposed to connect a city on one island with the airport on another island. Clearly it was grossly overbid and way more expensive than it should have been.. But it wasn't a "bridge to nowhere" either.

When is our govy going to kill pork-barreling? I hate that each bill that gets run through has 500 riders attached to it. Why can't they simply pick an item and vote on it alone? Why is it OK to attach funding for a huge landfill in Maine on a bill that is design to help fund schools in Washington?

So many times you see senators vote against a bill because of what's attached to it rather than the bill itself being bad.

oh well..

The difference is this:1. It isn't their only claim of qualifications for a national political office. 2. They didn't lie about it like Princess Snowflake did. (and still does).

Actually, the issue isn't that the Federal government provides money to the States for pet projects, it's HOW it's done, secretly as part of huge funding bills, with no committee debate.

These projects are necessary and fully legitimate in many, if not most cases. But the earmark process promotes fraud. John McCain wants to Reform that process. It's hard to understand why anyone would disagree, other than powerful Senators like Ted Stevens, who now has gotten his titty caught in a ringer.

/thread my butt.

To come out and harp on her about it while KNOWING full well that they voted for it as well is lying. It's deceit by omission.

You just keep thinking these are non-issues. The hypocrisy of these two clowns is becoming more and more apparent by the day.

Right.

Which leads me to my next point.

If everyone criticizing the original spending bill would take the time to read and educate themselves on it, it wasn't really anything to knock Palin on in the first place.

My beef is with Oscar Proud and his sidekick using it as a sensationalist ploy to mislead voters when they themselves originally approved it.

Here's the voting record for the Coburn amendment, which would have removed funding for the bridge and used it for Katrina recovery:

Only 15 Senators voted in favor of removing the earmark. McCain didn't vote. Both Obama and Biden both voted no.

Based on the logic we saw in the "sex education" thread, Barack Obama hates Black people.

After all, he DID support diversion of funds away from victims of Hurricane Katrina.
