I would say it was official. It should be interesting who McCain picks. I know he won't be the pick but I still think Colin Powell would bring a lot to the ticket.

McCain has promised (not all that long ago) to release the name of his VP as soon as Obama announced his. I wonder if he'll get another dinosaur to run* with him?

McCain's team has commented."Biden is Obama's worst critic. This proves Obama isn't ready to be president." (More claptrap from a dying campaign.)

* run, as in campaign. I just didn't want to give anyone the impression that McCain actually still exercised.

Actually, Biden did say that, not so long ago.

When pressed on it, he responded, "I stand by my statement".

I should check my email more often...

Robert --

I have some important news that I want to make official.

I've chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.

Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois -- the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago.

I'm excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can't do this alone. We need your help to keep building this movement for change.

Please let Joe know that you're glad he's part of our team. Share your personal welcome note and we'll make sure he gets it:

Thanks for your support,

Barack

P.S. -- Make sure to turn on your TV at 2:00 p.m. Central Time to join us or watch online at " TARGET="_blank">http://www.BarackObama.com.

I hope all of you caught Barack's announcment speech today (8/23). He's awesome, as is Joe. The competition definitely doesn't want to debate this team.

On another note, once you hear Joe's history, you can't help but respect him. What a hero.

I see it now. Biden is going to be one excellent attack dog. Look out McCain the truth cometh.
