I don't really have a fully-formed opinion on this yet, just sharing the story.

Politically speaking, Navy SEALs aren't the safest targets to rail against in a presidential race, but the Obama campaign isn't hesitating to take down a group of former SEALs who've criticized the president's national security decisions.

On Thursday morning, campaign officials waged a full court press against the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund, a group of former U.S. Special Forces and intelligence officials accusing President Obama of leaking vital national security secrets and taking too much credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden. When the group launched its anti-Obama media campaign Wednesday, consisting of TV ads and a 22-minute film, it wasn't clear if Obama officials would avoid a potentially messy confrontation or refute the military veterans publicly. But now the campaign has made clear it views the attacks in the same light as the 2004 John Kerry "Swift Boat" attack ads, which, however misleading, were painfully effective.

Having worked with the SEALs on several occasions, by worked I mean gave them a ride into "the s***" and picked them back up after S&D operations, I find their characters to be, border line, beyond reproach. When they speak, I listen. I don't care that Obama takes credit for killing Bin Laden, it did occur on his watch, but I don't doubt that his administration has leaked national security secrets. When the tip of the spear makes statements about something they deal directly with, the world should listen.

After all, we're talking about a POTUS that doesn't even attend his Intel briefs and goes on a fund raiser as our embassies are under terrorlst attack.

His actions speak for themselves.

I think the article is much ado about nothing. It's not really Obama vs the Navy Seals as an organization, but a group of Republican ex-servicemen waging an anti Obama media campaign. The fact some of them are ex-Seals, an elite, respected, but traditonally non-political group, seems to overshadow the shortcomings of their actual message.

^ Who started it? Sounds like partisan hacks hiding behind the Seals.

Too much credit for killing Osama? Get a grip guys. The president authorized US forces to invade a sovereign country and conduct a military operation. That's technically an act of war. He's half the reason Osama is dead. The other half is the fact that our Seals are as processional and hard core as any elite warrior in the history of the world. Add those two characteristics together and you have the formula for a successful war on terrorism. I value results more than rhetoric.
