well my track night ended up screwing up, so i raced a friend of mine with a 93 24osx SE 5spd with a brand new clutch, he was by himself in the car, i had one passenger with me, we both had almost a full tank of gas, we line up, take off, and he naturally gets me in first gear. I start making my way back by second, i finally catch him at about 8o-85mph and start walking, so in the quarter, it wouldve been very close, all in all, it was fun and i decided to share it with the other ZERO people that ever look at this part of hte forum

You started walking away from the 240 at 80-85? Good job. Gotta keep your 240 friends in check.

yea, actually, i pulled back on him in everygear, but at everyshift, he would gain about 1ft (faster shifts than my auto :(), he just had me on launch and i was stuck playing catchup the whole time, so if i didnt catch him till 8o-85, it would be a very close 1/4 mile race, hopefully, if the track is open next time when we get there :rolleyes, we'll race head up

Thge 2nd gen is a lost cause for anything besides bolt ons UNLESS you do a engine swap or get a stand alone?? The ECU is untunebale by JWT. So I hear there was a way to either swap some manifolds and O2 sensor...I dotn know. I had a 00 Altima and sold it for the 240, but my daily grinder is an 01 Altima. I was goign do the engien swap to a 95 KA but wifey isnt hearign that. I am not allowed to lift her hood other than ti check fluids...LOL. I LVOE the 2nd gen styling though. I wouldnt mind an 00 SE Altima project. 5 spd of course

yeah i have a second gen altima and it does alright i am saving up some money for a turbo kit hopefully i can find one and it kind of is true that really the only thing that you can do is a bunch of boltons, which i have done everyone that you can do, but anything is possible man and it does really good in bad weather so its whatever you want... yeah i do race mine whenever i get the chance and it does alright i mean she holds her own but she isnt exactly the fastest thing on the road

use a obd 1 altimas intake/exhaust manifolds and ecu and it is tunable that way.

So that could in theory make the FMAx a bolt on turbo kit...well wasnt ti anyway....I dont know. I still want a 2nd gen project. I LOVE that styling.

umm yeah i drove the 2000 altima that im about to buy tonight, and my SOHC 240 would leave the altima in the dust stockYou probably would beat me cause i cant really get traction, i got open diff But no way mod for mod would you walk away from my 240 if we both had lsd's, but i dont really drag race though i autox

believe me, theres a difference between a 2000 altima and a 94 altima. i WOULD walk you, no problem i might add. especially your "one cam wonder". you think you have traction problems? im fwd and ill still take you. im not bragging, its just true. but whats the point to e-talk anyways? show me some slips and ill get you some slips.

bro i was just saying that my altima is slow, one i dont drag race but i have no doubt that your altima is faster than my car right now, you have more work than me but my car is lighter than yours and is NA so i give this argument to you cause my car is in no condition to race anyone but next spring it'll hopefully be done

its all good and i dont mean to come off sounding like an a**, its really not my intention, but the truth is, with all of the rwd drivetrain loss, the altima comes out on top. its been done and tested lots of times. i do want a 240 though, i want a turbo'd rwd drive and for me, it has to be either datsun or nissan. sorry if i came off like a d!ck.

its all good man, im sticking with the SOHC KAinstead of going SR it'll be cheaper ill have more torque but i wont be able to rev as high, which i kinda want for autox to hold the gear in the corners but if i break something i can get sohc ka's for free

if you do get a 240 definetly get the aluminum flywheel and the driveshaft its great i can't say it enough it makes my slow reving sohc rev a lil faster than a dohc ka

sounds good. with my fwd, im not even going to attempt autox. i know some altima guys that love their altima on the track, but i prefer straight line with my particular car. if i ever get my wish and pick up a 95-96 240, ill turbo it and have some fun with it. why dont you look into a de? i picked up my 00 engine with 500 miles on it for only 950. not bad at all for 5 more horses and practically no miles.

well i already have forged pistons in there cause i rebuilt it a couple o months ago, and the sohc is rarely turbo'd but im really thinking or the DE cause it has the oil squirters and a knock sensor, but my sohc has lower compression stock 8.6:1 and the DE i belive is like either 9.1 or 9.5:1 not sure but my friend has a DOHC turbo and he's putting to the wheels 232HP and 254ft-lbsCheck out http://www.importfanatix.com

you could do the usual bolt ons. problem is, with a 2000, youre stuck with the obd2. it pretty much refuses to see mods. but youll still notice a difference with lets say, a pulley and an intake and exhaust. the header is pretty expensive at 350+ but its nice power. but like i said, obd2 doesnt like mods all that much. on the 2000 the compression ratio is 9.2 and 9.0-9.1 for the others. youre right about the oil squirters along with forged rods and crank and crank girdle. i thought about turbo'ing the alty, but im getting pretty good results with the nitrous setup and im switching over to direct port fairly soon here. that ought to net some nice power as well.
