I have a problem that about every-other month my check engine light will come on for about a week, then turn back off. The first time it was my speed sensor and knock sensor. Second time it was front left O2 sensor and knock sensor.

Now it's on again, and I've tested knock sensor by resistance and it was fine. I'm wondering if there is a common ground for these sensors that could be bad or what. I don't think that 2 separate sensors would go bad, then work again at the same time (especially twice). I've tried unhooking the battery for 30 min. to reset the computer, but the light came back on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

What octane gas are you using?

I only use 91. That's the highest available in my area.

Many times, the O2 sensor will set a code when it is getting weak. I've seen the code not come back for months after the computer was reset...it's just one of those things.

Also, I don't know if this can have anything to do with it, but I just hit 100,000 miles, and my transmission is having trouble engaging gears when I shift into drive or neutral. I have to hit the gas, then it "clicks" in.

I have the same problem with my 00 maxima my service engine soon light comes on and off and when I took it to the dealer they computer says knock sensor and oxygen and sensor are going bad that's why the service engine soon light comes and go away my best advice for you is to change the knock sensor and the 02 sensor because the knock sensor can cause serious engine damage and also retard the ecu.

Well, they weren't related. I got around to changing my knock sensor, and I fount the wires had been torn out of it. I don't know how it happened, but I had to skip the connectors and just solder everything myself. The important this is that is works!

Good to know what one problem was. Do you still have the problem "engaging gears?" That sounds like a low fluid concern, or internal problem with the transmission.
