Hi folks,

I'm starting to formulate my late winter/early spring maintenance plan and what needs to be done in the next few months to keep this bad girl running like a champ and I had a question on the O2 sensors.

Do we have 2 pre-cat sensors and 2 post-cat sensors? Or 1 of each?

[taken from my Excel spreadsheet of parts for this car that I maintain]

Part Part # Qty Price Total
Oxygen Sensor - Pre-Cat BSH 15667 2? $110.00 $220.00
Oxygen Sensor - Post-Cat BSH 15370 2? $164.00 $328.00

I've only used Bosch on my Maxima and it was great. Plug'n'play.

How many did you buy? Just one or all four? Or is there only two?

Does anybody know if it's true that our pre-cat O2 sensors are wideband?

You have 4, all Ms do regardless of motor. Two pre cat (in the header) and two post cat (in the Y pipe before the second catalytic converters).

Does anyone know of an acceptable Nissan alternative part? My m35 came up with the P0430 code and the guy at Pep boys tells me I need a new cat converter [rt side] for $780 and both 02 sensors for $250 each, and 2 gaskets for $20 each. With labor the total is $1900. My jaw dropped. I am a total newbie as far as cars - can someone direct me to cheaper options? For some reason on eBay everyone says they cannot deliver cats to California? What to do? Thanks so much guys.

I am 99% sure an 06 M35 only has 2 Cats, not 4 as mentioned. The 2 cigar shaped objects after the cats are mufflers. That makes it 2 cats & 4 mufflers!

Cat converters have recently (past 2 years) had to undergo more stringent government guidelines. It has spiked the cost of converters well over 30%.
Certain states like Calif. & NY (and others) make it illegal to sell cats that do not meet this new requirement. That eliminates all sales via mail, online etc. also.
Uncertified cats cannot be shipped or sold in these states.

When you see a cat for sale online, it may show a disclaimer of states that it cannot be shipped to. This is why!
