alright been having some issues with my O2 sensors.. last yr i had to replace the bank 1 sensor 1 and this year bank 1 sensor 2.. from my understanding bank 1 is driver side and bank 2 is pass side.. well i just recently replaced bank 1 sensor 2 and cleared the code by unhooking th battery for a couple of hrs.. the code was gone for a few days then popped back up.. i noticed ck light pops up when gas pedal is released.. is there a proper way to clear the code or do i have to take it to the dealer and have the ecm reflashed everytime an o2 sensor is changed?

it is a vg33 motor, bank 1 would be the passenger side. the best way to figure out what bank one is on v-6's and v-8s the number one cylinder will be the most forward cylinder closest to the front of the engine and number one cylinder is bank 1, im not for sure but i do think by disconecting the battery ecm memory will be lost (clearing your codes) . i hope that i have helped

yea that is right autozone was wrong. i just worked on one today and it was a vg33, bank one is on the passenger side. what are the codes you are getting on it? but it will help in diagnosing your ride it may not even be a o2 sensor maybe just harness conectors but i would ( this is my oppion )go ahead and replace the o2 sensor that is giving your code(s). lol i have been to autozone and asked Q: and they have even giving me the wrong answer most people that work there have very little experance working on them but hey at least they try god knows i have made my mistakes. well i hope you can get it fixed right next time around.

thanks for the quick responses!!!!!... i wonder why nissan decided that this engine needs 4 o2 senors! well ill get it checked again but im pretty positive their scan tool gave 2 codes one was for low voltage or something and slow response for bank 1 sensor 2, if this is the case then my old sensor could still be good and should be able to just switch the sensors?

if i am not mistaken i believe the harness conectors are difrent not to metion the leanth of the wires on them are difrent lengths they are configured by the color of the heat shielding on them i think blue and red are your back sensors white and black are your frt ones and i beleve dont quate me but the blue one is for bank 2 sensor 2 bank 1 sensor 2 is red i would have to look it up for you if you would like me too just give me a shout later

yeah i haven't tried switching them yet, but your rite. both sensor 1 have 3 wire o2's and sensor 2 have 4wire o2's.. color wise they are the same 2whites grey and black so im guessing the the back sensors are the same connectors look the same aswell but not sure about length.. ill just have to get the codes check again to confirm this.. oyeah blue heatshield is bank 2 sensor 1 =) i changed that last yr.. ill let you knoe what i find out.. again thanks for your help

Since OBD2 graced us with its presence in 1996 The Feds decided that all cars with Federal emissions had to have two O2 sensors per bank to diagnose Catlytic Converter issues.
