ive been thinking for a while now that my o2 sensor isnt working.so i started checkin it over and found that the signal wire, with the ground sheild on it,was directly connected to the sheld.which was grounding it out.so i did have a dead sensor.after rewiring it,i didnt connect the sheild together again.just the signal wire.well, now i have a reading when the car is idling.but im gettin 1.2 volts, and scannin around.whats the deal with that.do i need that shielded wire for some reason?someone help me.

Yeah you need to keep the wiring the same way as it was. Removing shielded wiring and/or drains has the effect of the wiring absorbing interfereance from the electric noise under the hood.

one more quick question though.i had to extend the o2 wires.so where can i get a ground shield,or can i just solder the ends to like a 12 gauge wire to complete the circuit?

ok,so i got some sheilded wire at a local store and replaced the old crap with ths new wire.end result: i still have 1.2 volts at the signal wire.im thinkin one of two things.1-bad 02 sensor2-is it possible that with the walbro fuel pump and a stock fpr, will cause a rich mixture, which in turn will read real rich on the sensor?someone help me out

bumps13 redtop owners:can anyone tell me which pin location theyre brown/yellow wire is at on the ecu.should be the heat wire for the o2.or if anyone has any info on the pin locations of the o2 sensor at the ecu for a s13 redtop i would greatly appreciate it.

Yes, the walbro + stock FPR combo is proven to have a rich idle due to the increased fuel pressure.

I would try replacing the 02 sensor. At worse you will just have a replacement.

As far as the entension of the wiring, you shouldn't have that big of an issue, and I'm interested as to why you extended the wiring, I didn't have to do that on any of the swaps I've done before. Did you move your harness into the interior?

well, this is the first swap i did.i followed srswap.com and extended the maf, powersteering,i mounted the ignitor in factory location and the o2 was extended.i just wanted a clean factory look.i replaced the o2 sensor yesterday, and now im gettin .6!im happy with that.whats weird is that i bought a 87 300zx turbo sensor the first time and was a small type.my freind picked one up for me yesterday and its a fat type.wierd.im definitly gonna look into a fpr now though.thanks for all your help man.
