OK, I give up... Is this the tool I need to remove the driver's (LH) side O2 Sensor?

http://www.toolsource.com/ost/...N2W9D

Is there anything better... How have you guys been doin this job?I have an O2 Sensor socket, but the offset is short, and difficult to work with... I have the RH Sensor removed, from the top... Impossible on LH Sensor... Any tricks, besides PB Blaster?

Thanks, I recieved my "Consult" today... But I'll worryabout that later...

If you're talking about the first O2 sensor on the driver's side then maybe my trick on my 97 will work. I removed the brake power booster. Remove (unbolt) the brake M/C but DO NOT remove the brake lines and then unbolt and remove the brake booster. This gave plenty of access for whatever tool you'll use.

The brake lines have enough give to move the M/C out of the way and the booster cmes out fairly easily but getting it back in was a ***** due to little access under the cluster.

Good luck.

For my 94' Q I used a standard flare nut crows foot at the end of a medium(5"?) and short extension(3") with a swivel between the two extensions. I inserted this combination at the center slightly to the driver's side along the firewall. In order to make that insertion it was necessary to release the cableing that is held down at that point. I think that I also pulled-off the brake vacuum line off of the manifold. The trick to this operation was to climb on top of the engine with a flashlight, and turning your head at a particular angle, so you will just be able to see the crow's foot engage the sensor. When things are arranged well, the crows foot will come down in-line with the sensor. One word of caution, avoid wobbling the extension as this can break the top of the new sensor. In my case, once the sensor turned about a quarter of a turn it would go the rest of the way with almost no effort. The crow's foot that I used was a Proto Brand 7/8" with about ten points. These numerous points allowed me to engage the sensor very exactly. If you have further difficulty, please let me know and I will send a picture.

By the way, when I did the passenger side, I used a very long extention(maybe 18") and threaded it down from directly above, positioning the crow's foot from underneath the car with my hand. It worked great.

Correction: that was not a medium extension, I believe it was a 10".

I done both my 90 and my cousin's 94 (the 94 was more of a pain because of the TC). If you go to Kragens or Autozone they sell a Oxysensor socket that has a cut on the side for the wire. I use this with two extenstions from the top and a universal join and it worked fine. I didn't have to take any hardware off maybe the EGR but that was it.

I have used the "O2 sensor socket and thread extensions near the firewall" on two occasions. The first time went pretty quickly. The second time was a real bear! Same car too...

Anyhow, I think the crow's foot is the way to go here.

I did not like the O2 socket as it was hard to fit in the tight spaces. Due to this problem there was a tendency to put it in at an angle which could damage the top of the O2 sensor. The crow's foot worked great, but I would recommend the 12pt. style.
