do i need the secondary O2 sensor? the one under the car? (s14) if i disconnect it will it set of check engine light?

the secondary o2 sensor just tells the comp if the cat is working. it is not necessary and you will not fail the sniffer part of emisions, but it will make the light come on and they will probobly fail you for that. it doesnt affect air/fuel or anything like that.
