as far as i know it is a dealership only thing, and no, unplugging the battery wont fix it like a check engine light. they hook a laptop up to the computer and change the parameters of the o2 sensors to tell the heater in the o2 sensor not to turn on as early. and yea the universal one was a bit more work, but about 20 bucks cheaper than the first one i did. the first one i changed was also a bosch but it was specifically for the pathfinder, not the universal.
