Looks like you have 2 precat (on the engine, one on each side) and 1 postcat (in the exhaust). They are very easy to find. There are very few items mounted in the engine and the exhaust that have wires running to them. It looks like a spark plug with wires running out the back of it. I got mine from oxygensensors.com. They show 2 different sensors for the postcat for your car: (from 96 or to 96) guessing that means if it was built before or after 6/96? Not sure how you will determine which one you need. I would also recommend getting the 3-piece toolkit for removing them. You may need some Kroil penetrating oil too as they can be rusted tight. The way I saw it was I was saving so much $ doing it myself and buying the sensors from their website that the toolkit was basically free.

Anyway, I am no mechanic and I was able to replace all 4 of mine on my 2001 maxima. Piece of cake. You can buy them with the OEM plug (about $20 more) or in the style that requires you to cut the OEM plug off and terminate the wires. I saved the money and terminated them since I replaced all of them. It's up to you on that. My SES light went off immediately after replacing them. If it doesn't you can always get it reset at your nearest auto parts store for free.

You want to use the floor shop manual when you check theresistance on your o2 sensors (both ones on the exhast manifold)

The Haynes manual says the resistance in 900 millivolts. The floor shop manual says something else.

Resistance is measured in Ohms. According to Autozone it is supposed to the 2.3 to 4.3ohms.

Check out this site. Pretty sweet if you own an older max. Lots of good info out there!http://www.autozone.com/az/cds...s.htm
