I have a question about O2 sensors:

What is the difference between the one with the connector and the one with out (besides the fact that one has a connector and the other doesn't!) ? Is one easier to install than the other and how much extra work is installing the one without the connector (as price is a big factor here but I will spend the extra if the one without the connector is that much harder.

Also, is there one brand better than others? All I can seem to find is Bosch.

none really.... Bosch is the way to go anyways in terms of o2 sensors..

just have a crimping tool handy & to make sure, shrink tubing or electrical tape after cutting /splicing wire back together.

I got the one w/ connector since it was plug-n-play & didn't have to worry about the crimp/splice coming apart d/t engine vibrations.

OK--then I think I will go with the one with the connector. Now, I talked to a friend of mine today who told me that I may need a special socket, with a cutout on one side to get the sensor out. He has been a good source of info for me but I don't want to buy anything extra if I don't have to. Did you need a special socket or can I get some kind of crescent wrench (or something like it) in there to get it out?

yep, that oxygen sensor tool/ socket can be found @ any auto parts slinger...

the cutout is for the wire so you won't pinch it while you're taking it out.

sure, you can use a wrench, but some applications, like our cars have limited clearance & using this tool simplifies the job. adding a 1/2 drive breaker bar on it would help take it off it is tight on there... buy a can of PB blaster penetrant oil just in case.

another thing, may be excessive, put a little more anti-seize on the threads soo it'll be easier to take out in the future.
