i'm wondering if i could swap the computer or o2 sensor from a higher output vehicle (bigger than a 4 cyl) to my 240 so that i can performance tune the stock ka24de engine, but still have the comp think that the emissions output is in or under normal output range specifications for the stock engine (not the one the o2 or computer is from)?

i don't really know if this is possible without completely ****ing the car's computer over by burning it up or possibly just having it not work anymore.

but if anyone's tried this i'd really like to know if it's possible

it would be a fun improvement on my car :D

but i have my doubts

It's obvious you know next to nothing about engine tuning. Please read as much about the subject as possible by searching google/wikipedia before posting questions that after people read they are 10 iq points lower.

#1. Narrow band 1 wire O2 sensors are interchangeable between any car that also uses a narrow band 1 wire o2 sensor. Where the hell did you get the idea that swapping to a o2 sensor from a "bigger" vehicle does anything to get around emissions? Are you a moron?

#2. You can't just swap a computer from another vehicle it totally doesn't even remotely work that way (except for rare exceptions like stanza ecus.)

#3. Most "tunes" I.E. Jim Wolf/Emance still keep "closed loop" (go google "closed loop, o2 sensor" and read about it.) The emissions place won't be able to tell as long as they didn't turn up base timing, or timing in the emissions "closed loop" area (which they normally don't.)

#4. Look into Nistune if you don't want Jim Wolf/Emance. You can simply load the "stock" image on it when you need it, and you can ALWAYS maintain all stock emissions stuff etc...
