remember all my car probs? well i changed teh o2 sensor but that didnt work and i gave up on it for a while. so like 3 weeks later im just chillin at a light, my car being its usual hesitant self. Then it turns green and i mash the pedal like i always do to get the thing to crawl, but to my suprise the car peels and goes and i almost smack into another car. the damn thing just fixed itself oneday outta nowhere, or does it take time for a new o2 sensor to work in? im so happy that it works now though, i just hope it doesnt revert to its old self. i do have a rattle sound when i accelarate, its most noticeable in the 2k-3k range. its a high pitch rattle like a nail in a coffee can or something

get under the car and look for loose exhaust work. I use to have a rattle on my old car. Looked under the car and it was a muffler hanger hitting the muffler.

Could it be in your clutch or something in your transmission? I hope not! Something from your exhaust hanging down.

Just cross your fingers that you don't need a flywheel cuz Altima flywheels don't like to be resurfaced from what I have heard.

Well, it needs a rebuild. its like a 600$ fee to take it apart, clean it up, and find whats wrong then more money for parts and labor to reinstall. :/ i bought this car 2 months ago for 700 bux, no way im sinking over a grand into it. I'm gonna try and find a cheap used transmission and swap em. anyone know how hard transmission swaps are? :/

Manual trannies are a piece of cake in any altima before 2002. If you got your tools right and good work space you should be up and running in about 4 hours.

Not at all. Just use a chain to keep the engine from falling out, drop the transmission from the bottom of the car. Altima flywheels are thin and resurfacing may cause it to warp.

hold on, why would the engine fall out? do i have to undo the mounts or something? transmission bolts better not be tight, im tired.

Well, Im looking at it from a safety point of view. Plus once the transmission is out there will be a lot of stress on the other mounts which could damage them. I would go the extra mile and find a way to hold the engine in place while the transmission is out of the car.

true, less strain on the car the better, and besides having an engine fall on ur head would probably ruin ur weeekend

you know, there is one thing really wrong with your transmission. its automatic. mine got the same problem... and yes, it does not shift right. and gears dont catch right between 1st and 2nd. there is only one good way to fix it - get a new manual transmission, and its gonna be only like 400$ or around that.

as for your bumper, either hit a junk yard or ebay. dont buy new ones... WAY too expensive.
