What's the problem with continuing to drive the car with an O2 sensor out? Does it damage anything else? Car passes emission test in Az just fine

about the only thing you might see a difference in is gas mileage. other than that, it should not affect too much. IMHO, i would change it out and get your CEL reset so you're on top of everything.

How do you know it's not working? Is your CEL on?

If its after teh cat dont really worry about it if you dont want too. If its before the cat. I'd change it if its throwing codes.

o2 sensor just changed in a 2002 maxima bank 1 sensor 1 ,now bank 2 sensor 2 shows up and it says some kind of performance issue problem, car gets 38.6 MPG check engine comes on randomly.Runs fine after a reset, died in LIMP mode twice, lucky I carry my trusty orange scanner and just reset it. Car has 58K,running synthetic, premium gas only. Any ideas what the heck I do next?

The computer will tell the engine to run in a "rich"fuel condition if the O2 sensor is out

Check the sensor with a multimeter

Should I just replace the whole dam exhaust system and put in stainless steel and all new O2 sensors?Car had P0139 and P1147 now has P1165 and is telling me bank 2 sensor 2 is low output,AFTER changing Bank 1 sensor 2,having the fuel injectors cleaned at Nissan.Very frustrating .Car sits in the driveway M-THURS ,do you think its just rotting away? Should I disconnect battery when not in use?Any ideas?I like my car ,dont reallly wanna trade it in.(2002 MAXIMA)
