On my 240 the O2 sensor wire is so.... crusty crispy that whn i moved the wire down by the sensor the blade plug just fell off . on inspecting the wire it looks like there is a wire that is wraped around another. Is this first wire just a heat shield wire or what ?I bought another universal O2 sensor and it has only one wire from it , can I just splice into the center wire and connect it with the O2 sensor and the car will run ok? Is there any check engine light on this car that tells you when a O2 sensor is bad or something like that ?

the main wire has that shield around it to suppress electromagnetic interferance. you would probobly be fine splicing the center wire unless you want to go to the junkyard and get a new wire.

It is also a heat shield and wear protector. I reccomend replacement instead of splicing. I had to have mine replaced after the previous owner spliced and then it wore through rubbing against the firewall. It became obvious when the engine made poor power and wouldn't idle right.

OK thanks, where did you get yours from ? and did you replace it yourself ? If so how was this done ,and the cost of another sensor wire?

I would normally do it myself, but I was pressed for time at work and needed it done quickly. So I had a reliable shop do it. They use Nissan parts. I don't know where the reciept is right now, but the majority of cost will be in labor.
