Hello, everyone.

I have done a search and no answers to my question.

I recently got P0158 and P0159 codes and understand that these are the 02 sensors. My question is how immediate do I need to replace the 2 sensors? Will I damage my engine if I hold off for a couple or few months?

The reason that I am considering holding off because there may be another issue with my 01 Pathy that might be costly. I cannot afford to do both.

ive had my two o2 codes for about a year now, 1 primary, other secondary, diff banks.

If its not affecting your gas mileage I wouldnt worry about it much. My cars runnin great and my service engine light doesnt work anyways so i really see no need to even do the o2 sensors. I even passed emissions testing with flying colours (and they werent from fumes of my exhaust running too rich/lean....its runnin fine)

If your gas milegage isnt horrible and your engine doesnt sputter or do anything abnormal.....i think your fine

Both of those codes are for bank 2 position 2 sensor which is after the cat. They're located somewhere in the exhaust and will not affect your engine at all. The only think that will happen is you might not pass smog so if you can't replace it now wait until your next smog check is due.

In general with O2 sensors, as long as your engine isn't noticeably struggling then you're. You might lose some fuel economy, emissions test might fail, and worst case you might not be able to get full power in high-stress situations (e.g. towing a trailer, going up steep hills in the mountains). That's about it.

YUP what empty v said. if its after the cat then dont worry, its only for smog checks. its the ones before the cats that can make your engine run funny.

Thanks for the input, everyone.

I am crossing my fingers about the other problem.

You gonna tell us what the other problem is or just tease us?

I was going to start a new thread for the other problem but then decided that describing the problem will still be too vague.

I know for sure that the front driver side brake needs to be looked at because when I slam on the brakes it makes a grinding sound. Also, when the street/on-ramp is uneven I feel some shaking but cannot determine where its coming from.

Both of these problems just sound $$$$$$.
