my 2002 Pathfinder got a code of P0158 oxygen sensor circuit high voltage bank 2 sensor 2 as from a reading at advanced auto. Is that on drivers side and behind the catalytic convertor? I have read conflicting reports. Any thoughts on a good replacement? $ is getting tight and I have a buddy who works on VW's who will replace it.
Thanks for any help in advance

P0158 Rear O2 sensor Bank 2, Circuit High voltage
Side where cylinder #2 is located, but high voltage may be intermittent. Rear sensor not front.

Clean the sensor and re-install. The delay from readings could mean a sluggish unit, a cleaning may work.

Replace with same make or Bosch.

Verify the cables and connectors up in the motor. Dirt can cause voltage to creep up.

Clean all O2 connectors with brake cleaner and/or contact cleaner, blow dry with compressed air.

I think they are all similar, facing the engine, while standing in front of the vehicle # 1 is the first on the left, #2 is then the first on the right.

Left block is 1, 3, 5
Right block is 2, 4, 6

With the intake in between.

#1 is used as an indicator for spark plug timing light to strobe effect to show timing with the main dampener.

Engine light went off after a week. The light came on after my gas cap was not tightened after a fill. A code had come up for it too. I was told by mechanic buddy it just ran hot from the airflow issue. Thanks for guidance.

It would be advisable to run a code check even if the MIL light is off to see if there are any retained codes.

Going off and on then off may be a retained code, a code referring to environmental issues etc. but the inconsistency of the MIL light may be hiding a code that we as humans ignore when we see on, off, on.
