Hey my check engine lgiht came on, so went to autozone and got my free check, and it said 1st o2 sensor is broken. luckily I'm planning to put in my hotshot header this weekend, so I think I'll take care of that while I'm doing the header...

knowledgeable ppl basically I have 3 questions:1. the o2 sensor, all I can do now is get a new one and replace it right? no use trying to reset ECU and just ignore it?2. installing the o2 sensor, do I NEED that special socket or iwll I be fine w/ regular sockets/wrenches3. installing the header w/ stock gaskets, what's this deal I hear bout using gasket sealers?

finally any tips/warnings on the install would be GREATLY appreciated...

Thanks!

my light came on a while after i had my hs header, but said 2nd O2 sensor, i had a nissan tech check it out and he said it was fine, that the header was what caused it to come on, so he just reset it. but if yours came on before you put the header on then its probably bad. the install should go fine, mine took about 2.5 hrs. you need to get new gaskets that go in between the header and the engine block, you can get those at autozone for like $8. i just used the stock one for the conection onto the 2nd cat,and it worked fine. you will love the header, your car will be louder.

When I replaced my O2 sensor I didn't buy the little wrench. I just used a normal end wrench to do it. It was pretty big but I don't remember the exact size. I think it was around 20mm.

o2 sensor = 22mm. You can use a open ended socket for it, or get a specialized tool or customize it yourself. You can also use a deep socket as long as it's deep enough about 2.5 inches deep and that should let you pop it out granted you cut the o2 sensor wire right at the base of the wire, the specialized tool is basically that just with a side cutout for the wire.

Also, maybe the wire is just broken, check that 1st before buying a new one. But, then again, you're gonna replace the header @ the same time...
