O2 sensor and exhaust

Sad to say my 2000 Q45 is near the end of life for me. It recently re-popped the o2 sensor out of the exhaust pipe. This time there is too much rust to repair. I put a clamp over the hole along with muffler tape. I hope to get a few months of life so I can get a new car.

My question is whether it is better to connect the O2 sensor and tape it to the bottom of the car or simply unplug it?

Neither. It is best deployed as intended. Your car will run way too rich if it is not installed.
