2001 Sentra SE - RR SR20DE

Was at the shop getting some work done to finish up the turbo install. Car came back from exhaust shop to shop doing the work with a downpipe, then O2 sensor wires were extended.

During the extension, the battery was NOT disconnected, I believe.

Now, o2 sensor heater circuit malfunction sensor 1 bank 1 code PO135 or 138, can't remember the number exactly.

Okay, the heater gets power from the battery directly, correct? So since the battery was connected while this work was done (the code is staying on, despite replacement of the sensor), the ECU circuit with the heater was shorted out, and thus the need for a new computer to pass OBDII, correct?

Hopefully that makes sense, I'm horribly pissed right now after reasoning this out.

If that's the case, I definitely have grounds for the shop to pay the cost of replacing the ECU, right?

If the shop didn't use the proper procedures to replace the part, then they can be held accountable for the mistake. When you hooked up the new o2..were you using the extended wires still? I am not sure, but possibly using unshielded wire on the extension would throw a code. I would double check that just to rule out any other possibilities so you know for sure that it is the ecu.
