Just so you know...

Stock 02 is worthless at idle... Infact its almost useless all the time...

Get a wideband.

It's useless for tuning. It really isn't all that bad at WOT, though. With all the heat it keeps it reading nicely and won't go into feedback mode due to high throttle.

Doesn't seem all that inaccurate to me at all. But I would never stand by it or tune my car with it. But If I'm at WOT and I see it drop to red I would probably freak out.

BTW, at idle I get really varried readings. Know that the sensor only works correctly when it's very hot. So at idle sometimes it won't read much at all but the voltage going through the sensor itself due to lower temps.

I use to think the same thing. Until I found out I was running 13.5 AFRs while the gauge still showed me green.

Yes it does vary a lot. Sometimes my ECU will have my car run rich at idle... sometime lean. Sometimes it goes into closed loop, sometimes it does not.

Well actually 13.5 is still rich as compared to stoich (14.7). =)

I know most people like to run about 12-12.8 AFR (or so I've heard) when in boost. But when compared to the stoich 14.7 this is pretty rich. All the extra fuel is supposed to help the flame front burn at higher revs and pressures, if I remember correctly.

But I'm not going to argue that the stock O2 is accurate enough for any type of serious tuning. Just wanted to point out that it may be more accurate than a lot would say.

I mean it has to be somewhat accurate, the freakin' ecu uses it to adjust AF on the fly. Give the little guy some credit! LOL
