O2 problem

I have a 91 sr redtop with a 62 ecu. I just switched from the fat O2 sensor to the skinny type. The car immediately ran extremely rich at low revs. I did match the wire colors from the new O2 sensor to the wires from the factory O2. Im not sure if that is right. Any ideas as to why it is running so rich? Thanks.
