nylon seat gear stripped, but cant get off

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

The nylon seat gear for forward and back has stripped. Very common Nissan problem. However, the seat track is put together differently than a lot of howtos indicate. The nut is on the outside of the plate I need to remove to get the motor off. If I turn the nut the track moves.

Does anyone know how to get this nut off? this is a $30 fix the dealer needs $1000 to do.

And you know this from experience? applying that much heat in the car will catch something on fire.

I have been in this trade for over 30 years. Anytime using a torch extreme caution must be taken.
