So this thread should give u a glipse into my personal problems with Kerry Motors Autobody 14 urban ave westbury NY. where they "repared y car for 2.5 months". Do not be fooled by its nice appearance because from the outside its no chanty shop, but by the quality of workmanship it might as well be

all the following stories lead to the debadging problem....So1. After my accident in the summer (where i was rear ended and pushed into another car) they "fixed my car" About 2 days after i picked up the car, i was driving on the highway on my way into Manhatten. Everything seems good. I begin to turn onto an off ramp and all of the sudden my f****** steering whell wont turn eft or right without excessive force (and i mean excessive). So i pull over and notice that my power steering fluid was low (in my mind im thinking what jerkoffs would't replace power steering fluid when the car is being repaired) so i buy a bottle of power steering fluid and put it in. Everything is fine for the next two days until i have the same problem. So i took my car into nissan and they replaced it for $270 and the body shop agreed to pay for it. Havent seen the check yet2. When replacing my headlight i told them its an 8000K aftermarket bulb and an LED turning signal inside the headlight. I wrote on accident form SAVE BOTH BULBS. i picked the car up no tint on the headlight like they promised, both bulbs "missing" and in the "garbage".3. For my troubles they agreed to paint my Stillen sh** at a significantly lower price. I pick it up a couple days later. The lip is over sprayed and polyurathane is bent out, one of the rockers has a scratch from the top to the bottom, they lost my bag of screws and instructions, and the worst part is that they will not admit it.4. So this weekend i decided to debadge my car, For the longest time i could not figure out why the clay bar wasnt working until i realized that the badges had black body paint on the edges(suggesting that they left the F**kn badges on when they painted the car. Thats when i realized that they clearcoated right over the badges, in turn forever leaving 3.5 SE ALTIMA V6 imprinted on my trunk. Only a dumbass leaves the badges on the car when they respray a trunk, all the effort that they put into taping that crap off was retarded. And for the kicker, THERE IS A NISSAN DEALER DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET WHERE THEY COULD GET NEW BADGES FOR $15 after they were cut a check for 15 grandddddd... SOO in the end i hace a coice to leave the outline of the letters or get new badges from Nissan. The good news is i know exactly where they go....THANKS KERRY!!!!

OOO almost forgot the car came back to me with almost 300 more miles on it!!!!!!

I would of taken it to my Nissan Dealership, your insurance company has to pay for what ever body shop you want not what they want.

Running to the dealer isnt always the best solution either...

A TRUSTED shop is the correct choice!

Many dealers sub-contract work out and you dont know whose doing what etc.. I like it when I walk in and say "Is ______ here?" and someone comes out and says "Hey Brian! _____ told me you were coming over" Thats how you get the hookup!

If you need something on LONG ISLAND, make sure you ask!

exactly...wtf would you bring it anywhere else especially after the accident you had. I'm sure there will be a crappy reason why you went to the other shop across the street and i'm sure ill bit@h slap you later when you tell us why you went there vs. a Nissan dealership with all Nissan factory parts.

Get that pimp hand ready!!! my insurance agent is a friend of the family (or of my dad i should say), but he is mentally incompetent IMO. He sent me there saying he had many many customers who took their cars there and were very happy with the results. Most have been his blind customers.

that sounds like something you might be able to get the BBB involved in (i'v never had to deal with them .. but this sounds like a good reason to contact them) ... or at least threaten to do, at least until they make everything right ... wow i'd be beside myself if i were you

Theres a shop that a guy owns that a friend of mine used to work out and it turns out the owner has been a friend of my mother for like 20 years. Im gonna go over there and talk to him in a few months when I order the Stillen fascia. Supposed to do good work, if he does ill put in my recommendation for anyone else that needs bodywork done.

Your young, dumb and easy to take adventage of because you dont know better but you should of known to take a new car to the new car company (the dealer) and it would of been put back to stock with a warranty but noooo you had to take it to jimmy bo bob's and they bent you over and got you ready for the pain because you got screwed.

PS maby get the local news involved?

For what it's worth...The LAST place I would take my car to for repairs or any type of touch ups would be a dealer recommended shop. The main shop that does all of our cars works out of a run down shop that looks like an old barn. But, they do all of the Mercedes, Porsche's, and other high-end luxury cars for the local tuners. They're not cheap but they do great work.

There are ALOT of hack shops out there, especially in the paint and body industry. Very few repair shops in the U.S. actually do quality work. However, when you find a shop that does, stick with them and refer everyone you know to them. You want to make sure they stay in business in case you ever need them.

To the OP- Email me your address and I'll send out another installation kit for you.

By the way, it sounds to me like you should report them to your insurance company (not the agent...the actual insurance provider) so that they can remove them from their recommend body shops database.

Also, I would contact your state's body shop certification department. Most body shops have to be accredited to perform repairs to vehicle's. It sounds like the work they performed to your car is below sub-par and they need to be reported. Additionally the simple mention of reporting them could convince them to reimburse you for the money you spent on your power steering system as well as your bulbs.

If you REALLY want to be a pain about it. You can also go after them for the depreciated value of your car due to their shoddy work. It sounds like your gripes are pretty obvious or at least obvious enough that most people would see them when you go to sell your vehicle. Thus lowering the value of the car.

You are correct in that i am young i was 17 when all this happened....i had known my insurance agent since was a baby, and he still screwed m over in referring me there. What a DI*K!

As for the BBB that sounds like a great idea.

HSC lol, and you are grown now being 18?

You always have to find out the real deal man, you know how people are scumbags... NICO exists for the purpose of exchanging information like this!

I live 15 minutes from you and the shop I would recommend is probably 20-25 min from you.

People always look to take advantage and make shortcuts... being "friends with xyz" prevents this from happening!

ouch.. i grew up in westbury and would never trust my car to any body shop located in westbury... too shady!

ive used some body shops around with some mediocre results... like Scappy autobody in hicksville which primarily does work on toyotas...and another place in Mineola... but I guess the best place to get work done is where someone you know has had great work done and gives a referral.so its always best to ask around.

also being that i work for geico... i would only use a geico accredited body shop that guarantees the work for life. (so in this case... if its on geico's list... i will use them... because no matter what happens.. they have to fix it and do it right.)

HSCoupe, i dont know what email you are talking about, but email me if you like...

Superbad, Scappy and FirstClass (right across the street) both do good work when "it counts" so-to-speak.... When its a referral, friend etc.. thats when the "new guy" doesnt do the work.

i can see what your saying brian...

but when i used to own a 03 corolla and 02 celica...

both needed body work due to vandalisms.. and someone rear ended me...

TOTAL SUB-AR work! i wish i still had the pictures on my laptop... but both times... there were repeat issues... but with 2 different types of work done.

1. after i guess the sanding and then repainting.. there was flaking paint after i picked up the car. 2. i also had the issue that when my rear bumper was painted on the corolla s that i had back then... they repainted the bumper without removing the rear bumper valences ... then when i wanted to remove the valence one day.. i couldnt because their was paint and/or clear coat prohibiting the piece from coming off... so to avoid any cracking i decided to leave the valence on.3. the car had an additional 150 or so miles on it. and there was no way that i could have done that or the tow truck company that was used. the accident occured less than 10 miles away from the body shop and i know for certain the car was only towed to scappy directly from the crash site. then i found out that the body ship employee used the car to go get mcdonalds a few days in a row because someone i knew that worked near mcdonalds inw estbury said he saw my car parked at tmcdonalds... with my bumper that was cracked. (i had a very specific looking corolla back then lol, rims, exhaust...racing stripes lol)

but then again that was over 5 years ago.. hopefully their management has changed or they have revamped their services.

but also.. u can have a bad experience at any body shop good or bad... but i had 2 with scappy... and would never want to use them again.
