OK this is NOT one of those, "Hook me up with a shop that'll pass my KA-T". I want to pass NY emissions legally with my KA-T.

I posted this in the regional forums for my last question below.

I haven't installed my KA-T yet but I want to make the necessary preparations so I can pass with the turbo on. If necessary I'll convert back to NA to pass but I'm sure there's an easier way to go about it.

So here are my questions, if all the emissions are in tact with EGR installed, all sensors functioning, theoretically I should throw no codes so I should pass the ECU scan. Right?

Will boost leak into the downpipe from the EGR when its connected? or is there a valve there that will close?

Why remove the emission components anyway?

I've done some searching and came up with one thread that touches on passing emissions for OBDII on a '96. Here's the thread, 5th post down. zerothread?id=146059Slomoe says he passed his KAT with the egr hooked up to the DP.

Another question, has anyone used one of these O2 simulators?http://www.o2simulator.com/ind..._id=9

Last, I noticed on the NY DMV site you can register a home made or custom car if you live in upstate NY which I do. Has anyone done this? They say not all cars pass and are given custom status. These cars do not have to go through the yearly emissions test. I can keep my KAT as is w/o modifying it.Here's the site http://www.nysdmv.com/homemade.htm

all your O2 emissions are controlled by resistors. wire in the right resistor so you dont throw codes. i dont think they put you on the sniffer in NY but i have an ODBI 240 so idk what theyre gonna do to you.

No sniffer test for OBDII cars, just the ecu scan.I heard of the resistor fix...it'll have to be done if necessary.

Anyone with a KA-T OBDII pass the test with all emissions in tact?
