Ny Area Sr20det Swap????????????

Has anyone in here done a SR20 swap somewhere in NY area, I myself is from Brooklyn there are 2 shops here Initial D and and some other JDM peeps both gave around same estimate $3500 with motor. Is there any shops that I can trust to do the swap?

Im out here on LI....If suffolk county is within your perimeters then ill give you the info, but it will NOT be as cheap as that estimate....the only other shops around i'd trust (my opinion) is Heavythrottle.com (upstate ny), Paisley auto (hempstead, nassau county, big bux) or performance factory (queens, big bux).

that price is low, and i wouldnt expect any of those Reputable shops to be able or want to match that price.....I dont know of those places your mentioning...ask them for some testemonials of SR20det swaps they have done, and ask for phone numbers so you can contact the people yourself and see what they think...if they can NOT provide you with that info, then chances are that they did not do Sr swaps, or people dont have good things to say about them....

There are a lot of places out there....Im just giving you my preferences and my experience...

heavy throttle is 2500 for engine set up and 1500 for the install look at heavythrottle.com i was going to use them now im doing it my self in my friends shop

P.S. I forget to mention I called HeavyThrottle few days ago hey dont do SR swaps anymore!!!!!!!!! However if I want to wait till summer they will do it. Kinda weird but thats what the guy said ,"we wont do any swaps till summer" and his estimate for S13 with install was about $3200-4500 depending on such and such.

I'm from Old Mill Basin. Initially I was planning to get my swap done by Heavy Throttle but I change my mind bc I wanted a shop closed enough so they can follow-up my car when problem arised. I switched to Initial-D mainly bc I heard they're experienced with engine-swaps and my Honda friends says a lot of good things about them. They did tons of B16/ B18 swaps for Hondas and a few 4AG swaps on their own AE86s and they've been getting more involved with SR20DET lately. Talk to Kevin, he's the gearhead as well as the owner overthere, He drives a Hybrid-Galant VR4 and a 4AG AE86, tell him Jimmy refer you and he'll probably give you even a better deal.

BTW I notice the SR craze is growing rapidly in NYC just wondering if you guys are interested in getting together sometimes, perhaps organizing our own Brooklyn/Queens SR club? just a thought:)

I dont know about heavy throttle like I said i spoke to them few days ago, and theyre not doing any SR swaps untill Summer. As far as SR swaps, yea it been growing alot lately, however. Me myself is from BK and the only other 95 and above 240 Ive seen was 1 red one near my neighborhood with nice wheels and 1 black one which looks like an old lady has been driving it, Thats 3 240sx cars (95 and above) In Brooklyn that I have seen. I wonder why that is.

There are more than 5 SR20det powered 240sx's in Brooklyn alone....just because you havent seen them, doesnt mean they arent there;)

As for queens, atleast 5 right now....

(2 years ago, there was 5 in the whole state of NY)......

hehe sorry for being a bummer. I guess i don't know what I've been missing out....My S13 is currently in the shop for a paint job so I have to stick to MTA for the next 2 weeks. Can't wait to have my car ready for the next meet.

so where can i get a swap done?where is this place in the city that said they would do it for 3500? as you can see im in newburgh ny i would like to find somewhere around here but i dont think there is antwhere

Well, if you wanna check out the place that quoted me 3500-4000, They are located in Brooklyn on 18th ave between benson ave and bath ave. Place is called (Initial D)
