NX 2000 caliper question

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hello all,

I have a pair of NX 2000 calipers, AD22VF's, that I'm going to be putting on my 90 B12 Sentra and have run into a slight problem and need to find an answer.

I have already cleaned, rebuilt and painted the calipers and mounting brackets but I can not find the rubber slide pin bushings that fit.

The caliper uses a short rubber bushing and a long rubber bushing that goes into the mounting bracket. I believe the long bushing is designed to go all the way through the bracket but the replacement one's I bought are too short, about a 1/4" shorter than the one I pulled out of the caliper bracket when I bought them (from junkyard).

I tried a different part number and the long bushing was the exact same length.

Nissan has a caliper overhaul kit but it contains the piston seal, dust boot, metal ring, bleeder cap as well as the slide pin rubber bushings, problem is I don't need all that other stuff plus they want $27 each side for the kit !!!

So my question is, is the long slide pin bushing actually supposed to go all the way through the mounting bracket or not??

Here is what the rubber slide pin bushings look like:

here is a rebuild kit from another company I found in a how to on rebuilding the calipers, I believe this company is outside the US:

I went out and checked my NX to see and mine do not go all the way through. I know mine were rebuilt sometime ago by the previous owner, and so far they work perfectly.

On a side note, if the bushing were to go all the way through wouldn't the bolt not contact the threads?

I installed the long rubber slide pin bushing earlier to see if it would work with the slide pin installed, it appears it doesn't have to go all the way through. See my pic below I added notes to it to describe what I was talking about:

Wait, so you installed the slide pin bushing to check if it went through and realized that it doesn't have to, so you can use the new shorter bushing?

Sorry, my comprehension/logic processors suck at 4 AM...

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, was feeling sick last 2 days.

Yeah I guess I answered my own question kind of, it appears the rubber bushings ( the long one) doesn't need to go all the way through for the slide pin to work but I still want to know if the OEM bushing goes all the way through the bracket. You said you looked at the calipers on your NX and they don't so I guess that answers that question as well, unless the rubber bushings in your caliper brackets are not OEM.

Ah, I see. The guy I bought my car from worked at a parts store that had mainly Raybestos brake products, so 90% chance he used one of their aftermarket rebuild kits.

Now I just need 2 rotors and pads and I'll be ready to do the swap.

Are you going for a more performance setup, or more of a daily?

Well since the car is only about 90 HP, daily driver but in the future (not anytime soon) there may be an engine upgrade so I want to have the brakes done.
