The Duggars are expecting their 20th child. :ohno:

I expressed concern, and a bit of disdain, when they were expecting child #19. 19-kids-and-counting-are-you-cereal-t44 ... l?hilit=19

My concern this time is that they almost lost baby number 19. She was very premature, weighed only 1 pound and a few ounces and spent the better part of six months in a NICU. I'm all for living your life based upon your personal beliefs but the mom is 45 years old. There are certainly very real health problems that could arise for her and any future children.

Your thoughts?

I myself would like to have a big family of my own, but 20 is just crazy. Especially with all the complications that may be linked to the mother's age.

Yeah, my jaw dropped when I saw this. She's addicted to having kids... really, enough is enough. It's not cute anymore... Publicity whores.

My question is, what does the father/mother do for work? With today's economy, I can't imagine how much that family is spending each month on just food.

I have 3 kids and I am comfortable in my monthly income, but we still sometimes have to scrimp and save to make it through the month when it comes to groceries. I have 2 boys that eat for a small army and my 2 year old eats for 3 sometimes...

I keep trying to imagine the flapping noises she makes when she walks, but I seem to have a mental block.

That is freaking gross man :rotfl

20 kids is ridiculous. I've always wondered what the dynamic between the kids are, thats like a small classroom. its possible that you wouldn't have a good relationship with som of you siblings in a family that big right?

I'm afraid to go to the family website; have any of her kids had developmental problems? Children after 35 or 40 see drastically increased rates of just about everything.

If #20 comes out with Down syndrome, think they'll call it quits?

Certainly no tread left on the tires there....

The resources to take care of 20 kids must be ridiculous. I guess odds are with 20 kids they will always have someone to take care of them.

I know there would be a lot of Amish around me that would be jealous.... lots of helping hands.

My wife used to watch the show until they announced they were having #19, then she stopped keeping up with it. It seems as if they have the resources to take care of them, but I don't know how much of that comes from their TV show and promotional appearances. They seem like a great family, but there's a point where enough is enough, no matter what your beliefs are. When a doctor says it's far from healthy for you to have anymore children, ESPECIALLY after having 19, I would be inclined to listen to him. Their reasoning is based on their beliefs, they don't believe in birth control or surgery to prevent birth, so they will continue to have children.

I'm fine with large families, but it just seems like they're trying to prove people wrong now, rather than simply following their faith. My wife's aunt and uncle have had 8 children and her uncle finally had to get a vasectomy after the 8th child, because they could not afford to feed anymore children, even though they didn't want it to come down to that. Each of their children are no more than 2 years apart too.

I have absolutely no problem with birth control and neither does my wife, because even though we want 2-3 children, we most certainly do not want 8 and definitely not 20... I remember the same aunt above that has had 8 children told my sister in law right after she got married "Just remember, if you use birth control, you're likely killing a child every time you are intimate with your husband..."

:wtf2: That's just insane. There is no reason to bring an unwanted child into this world, no matter what your religious beliefs are.

You would think that the Duggar children would be dead set on being single and childless but the oldest son has already moved out, gotten married, and had two kids in less than 3 years.

As for income, they own several pieces of commercial real estate that they rent out to local companies. They also sell residential real estate, or at least they did at one time. I remember watching an episode when there were just 17 kids and the grocery bill was almost $1500 a month. Also, the kids are home A LOT. They are all home-schooled and the family holds church services in their home. It's odd that the parents feel comfortable enough allowing strangers into their home to film their every waking move and yet they feel like their kids will be too exposed in a public school or place of worship. That's just weird.

It seems selfish what they are doing, Having more children will keep up their TV ratings and keep people watching. Over the age of 40 the percentage of birth defects, down syndrome, and autism rise significantly. They dont have the time to give each child individual attention and children could feel uniportant and just a number, "Oh yeah I'm number 10". Speaking of not having enough time, the older children parent the younger ones often in situations like this and are robbed of their childhood and teenage years. STOP HAVING KIDS!! Get your tubes tied!

She must have the whole birthing thing down pat, they crawl right outta there in less than 5 mins of labor.

Well, I understand they're not on the public dole, so from that point, I guess I don't have that big a problem with them having so many children. I have more of an issue with Octomom, a single unemployed wackjob who lived with her parents, blew thousands on bad plastic surgery, could not afford the kids she already had yet still went for more kids by invitro.

I find people who have more than 4 children to be frustrating and selfish. There are millions of children in this world who could use a good home, but instead of doing something good, these people just keep poppin' out babies. As if there weren't enough people on this god forsaken planet already, they're going to just keep pumpin those kids out. It's unethically selfish in my opinion, but whatever. Maybe in 70 years, there will be a show called 20 kids and counting and it follows the children as they die. 20... 19... 18... 15 (car crash)... 14... you get the point.

Oh, they're still on the public dole, just not with a direct subsidy.

Dude was a Arkansas State Representative from 96-03, and now he's a realtor and commercial property investor... I guess God protected him from the real estate market crash cuz they just built this ginormous house in 09.

My main issue is that every single kid has a name starting with J.

We all seem to be talking about the Wife too much.

Maybe the Husband is a Sex-addict who hates wearing a Rubber?

Ok, lets talk about the Wife again... I bet she looks like Mick, downstairs.

Starting to look like the Duggars' show is just another version of that Hoarders: Buried Alive show. If only people would stop watching this show and giving them attention, I bet they would stop having kids.

Regardless of their religion, I think it's time that they face reality and acknowledge that maybe this isn't such a good idea anymore.

Kristen told me about this earlier tonight. It's sad that it happened, but I agree, I hope that they decide to face reality soon and take the medical advice they were given.

They should go for lucky # 21, then call it a day. I wonder if she has a special c-section zipper for instances like this.
