I really lihe the way the Caliber looks. However it's rear passenger rooms comes nowhere close to the Versa's which is one of the reason I got one.

I like the looks of the Caliber - more 'SUV' like, less econobox look. The beverage cooler is a nice touch and it looks like the rear cargo space is completely flat when the rear seats are pulled down. The 300hp option is interesting; until I left the US my goal was a car with 300hp.

Downsides in the review I read were rear leg room and transmission performance. They also said it did not drive as well as the Focus but then again, the Focus was a great car.

Caliber is not an option here in Panama but if I was in the US I would certainly test drive it.

When looking for a car, I originally looked at the Caliber but never got as far as test driving it. I own a ram and the car has similar look to my truck. I liked it because it looked like a small truck from the front. But when we look at the car from the side, we just could get over it's odd shape. From the side we find that it looks like a Jeep hatchback. The stated mpg (which I consider to be a goal and not a promise) was considerably lower than the Versa's.

What turned me off of the caliber (and any chrysler product) was their reputation of skimping where it counts. Whoever works in the industrial design department at chrysler knows their stuff... some of the best looking cars on the road. Unfortunately, they have always had issues with their steering, suspension, 4 cylinder engines, and transmissions.

The Caliber is neither Ford nor GM, it's Daimler-Benz

Even though the Caliber comes from the Chrysler clan, I hear what you're saying. My parents owned a 95 or 96 Cavalier. A year after buying the car the rear passenger side door fell off Yes, after getting home from church one day, one of my siblings opened the door to get out and down the door went. Faulty welding of the door hinges. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen . As I got older, I realized it's one of the scariest things I've ever seen since the door could've easily come off on the freeway.

Fixed. The Caliber is definitely not D-B.
