The check wirewire (the looped wire off the PTU) is connected to cylinder 1. If you have a timing light, hook it to the loop and use it to verify there is a signal for it to fire.
Use a multimeter set to continuity, with the car off and test each lead off the cylinder 1 coil pack plug. Use this diagram

Put a probe of the multi meter on a lead of the coil pack plug, then the other probe on the other end of where the wire goes on that diagram. This will help find/rule out a broken wire.
