I'm assuming you have an auto trans by the question.... I've noticed that if you leave it off you can actually use it to your advantage by turning on at the right point and give yourself a bit of a boost.

That can't be good for the transmission.

Just get a friend to time you running...

Under normal driving, doesn't OD just make it shift at lower RPMs?

OD is like another gear, like a 4th or 5th gear, you sue it if you are towing something or pulling a heavy load, but i don't know if it helps your acceleration, i doubt it though.

It's a taller gear and the OD button just tells transmission to use taller gear... I dont see how it would be bad for the transmission but if it goes out then I'll probably either do a manual conversion or get this one rebuilt with a shift kit.

it wont help your times at all. With overdrive off, imagine you're driving with a lock keeping u from using 4th gear, its the same thing. With over drive on, your car will shift into 4th gear, simple as that. My car has 1,2,3 and then D. D is my 'overdrive' or 4th gear, leaving it in 3rd does nothing but keep u in 3rd gear and not letting u get to 4th. The only way having OD off helps u in a race, is from a roll. If i roll from 6omph in drive, and punch it, my transmission has to down shift to second first. However if im cruising at 6omph in 2nd (by keeping the shifter in '2') i can nail it and go and not have to wait for a down shift. However, i must put it in '3' soon because at 72mph if im still in '2' i will hit the limiter (simply cause the transmission can't go to 3rd gear. Get it?

If you nail it the transmission should kick into power mode and jack the shift points up so you shouldn't need to switch it off. by the way vengeance, you got a cute butt.:)
