Hi there....I have had my qx4 for many years and I love it.
Recently I need to try several times to activate the starter because turning the ignition switch on it happens nothing; i.e. not a single light in the panel, no interior lights, looks like totally dead battery.
I repeat the process turning the wheel and moving the shift lever and then the car is back to normal, it starts. This is a main problem to me because it takes 15 minutes trying to turn on the engine. I suspected a faulty ignition switch and I placed a new one, then nothing, the problem is still there.
I believe there is a cable link between the ignition switch and the shift lever that is causing the problem but I need help from you on how to remove all the covers to get the right parts; it seems something is stuck in the switch.
Thanks four your help.....any clues?

Do you have another ignition key you can try?

Thanks for your response.....not really, no more original keys just copies.
Another thing, making left turns and driving into underpass make everything fail since the lights are in auto mode and turn on in the underpass the failure starts immediately, even the engine is switched off. I need to cylce the switch several times in order to start the engine again.
