My fiancee's car (2013 Nissan Sentra SR, 65k miles) threw an check engine light over the weekend. The code is a P0101. I researched the code and found this is an issue with the PCV valve (please see TSB NTB16-027a https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/ ... 8-2280.pdf). Replacing the part is very simple, but the car's ECM needs to be re-programmed.
Tynan's Nissan Aurora is refusing the honor the repair as they are saying it's a billable issue since it's outside the PowerTrain warranty. The service guy I spoke with mentioned the repair would be $350+ tax.
This does not seem right as the defective part is causing the issue. Does anyone have any experience getting issues like this covered under warranty? I see there is an 8-year/80,000 warranty, but the guy I spoke with is saying that this won't be covered.
How should I proceed to get this covered? I'm very frustrated about this. Thanks for any tips. I'm very emotional about this, but figure I should calm down and devise a plan to work my way up the chain to try to get this covered.
