He told me that he would trade my motor for 1000$ and a 1990 240sx Boby. Is that a good deal? He said he wants to put my motor in hes 1995 240sx. that wont fit will it...? And he said that he also wants my differential. Ho wcan that fit!!!!? I just thought it was pretty funny to hear... but i know that any thing is possible with customizing Cars!!! But the 240sx engine layout is way different!

oh, and to answer your question... vh's have been tossed into 240s before... your vlsd diff with your shafts will also fit iirc...

and no, dont do it... going from a Q45 to a 240 = fail. just buy one, but keep your Q

I'm pretty sure the Diff is the same in the Q as in the 240, he wants the VLSD. when you say the engine layout is way different what do you mean? its still FR layout. Obviously he plans on doing ALOT of custom work and if he's not planning on doing alot of custom work then I pitty him for his ignorance.

Hey Man!!! Um I Am Going To Answer Your Question. Now You Take A Q45 And Put It Next To A 240sx... You'll See That The Q45 Is Way Bigger, Now That Not Saying That The Engine Layout Is Bigger Than The 240SX... So You Put Them Together. Then Pop The Hoods, You'll See That The Q45 Engine Is Wider Then The 240 And Way Longer. Now The Say It Boults Right Up I Don't Now About That.... But I Am Deffinaly Sticking With My Q45....

sounds like this guy is more of a hot rodder than you. Big engine in little car is a proven recipe for fun.

Lots of VH45DE's are making their way into 240's. It can be done, and it's badass.

The diff won't work. The Q45 diff has different output shafts, and swapping the axles won't help - they're longer. A J30 diff is the ticket.

Let's try and speak english please.

Anyway, I would love to have a 240 w/ the VH45 in it. That would be awesome. Seems like a strange trade tho. These engines can be bought for under $1K all day long. Are you the one with the bend suspension from drifting? So he want's your whole car for $1000 plus a 240 or he just wants the engine and the rear diff?

I don't know if he has more hot rodding knowledge than you, it just sounds like he's more interested in engine swaps and such. It's amazing how similar some seemingly unrelated parts can be. For example, you can use pontiac exhaust valves along with dodge intake valves in a standard 460 ford head and gain installed spring height because the stems are longer. And you can offset grind the factory crankshaft of the 460 for more stroke (smaller rod journal) and use the 240" Ford straight six connecting rods with a .080 overbore and get a 540" big block. There's plenty of other strange-but-true parts interchangeability. I sometimes wonder who could possibly cook up this stuff without the help of serious drug use.

They say anybody can put any engine into any car. And that's true... to a certain extent. Change the "anybody" part to "anybody who is mechanically-competent and has experience with performing custom fabrication work" and you have a true statement. And unfortunately, lots of people who don't fit that bill are starting projects that end up going nowhere... and then you have a waste of one good engine and one good chassis
