That is hot. This is what I wanted to do on my s13 hatch lights straight tiny lines like that! Except when I asked the guy he asked me if i am interested in buying them (they make custom light)... i want to make them lol so I wonder what sort of tiny LEDs did he use?... they are very tiny which is awesome unlike ugly stuff like this which is what most people do:

Thanks for the link.Wow that's pretty awesome, I've been wanting some LED taillights for my coupe for a while now.

Do you know how much he is selling these for?

Or if you find out what type of LED's he is using, let us know, I might want to make some myself.

honestly i want to make some myself.... and from all the diy stuff ive seen online everyone does stuff liek the second video using larger super bright all directional retarded sized leds....

I want tiny tiny tiny tiny leds like he used.... thats what clearcorners' guy does too... im sure he'd want an arm and a leg for it... so i havent bothered asking him... but yea.

It's more or less chopping up tail lights with a hot iron or taking apart by oven method.... and then putting back together... in case of clearcorners i think he has his own mould though.. and im sure this guy does too.

The secret I want is the type of LEDs used...

Yeah, I was thinking about testing it out on a taillight from the junkyard and doing a pair of clear taillights to use on my car, but I don't want the rows of large LEDs.

I like those tiny lines of LEDs, looks nice!

Yeah, those are the only types that are showing up during my Google searching.I'll keep looking though, if I find the type we are looking for, I'll post it in here.

Could be something like this maybe? SMD LED 0.25mm?

Still im not sure how tight it would be.

Hmm, yeah I saw those before.I guess you could string those together close as possible and get a similar look. That's what it looked like he did for his reverse lights.

^lol

ya SMD are surface mounted devices... so like... tiny micro things... not like the old type resistors, transistors, capacitors, etc... which are cylindrical or bulky.. so i guess this is the LED equivalent... i mean ive seen thsi before but never thought about it.. i guess if forgot... this is as small as we'll get.... all modern electronics for the most part are now a days SMD based... even computer motherboards, they have less of the bulky components like in the past.

Anyhow... this looks like our key... now to get some i guess lol.. but which...

You will not get the same quality as clear corners just by buying some stupid LED's online and making a simple circuit board for it.

The reason Mike from clear corners charges so much for his lights are because of the amount of work and R&D that he puts into it. There's more to lights then just putting in LED's and calling it a day.

Besides the obvious, a lot of time goes into the effects of the lights and what goes on inside the lighting housing, things most of you wont think about.

blablabla and he started from a shed probably and now charges 2000$+ His quality is obviously great but he is not God.

Anyone with the intent to create something, practice, research, etc... can produce a product. Companies can't keep their secrets forever and rape customers with marked up prices just because they are the only ones currently making the product. Obviously not everyone can make things or even do research to find answers. However...

And personally I think what these guys are making looks on par and in many cases better than what Mike from clearcorners has made. Not that I've personally dealt with Mike but also his customer service at least per my observation on zilvia has been shyte he gets into arguments with everyone about his products. Yes 240 owners are cheap asses but one does not need to be a complete ***hole either. Customer support sometimes goes a long ways, for example Kuah with splparts.com

tho if you have free time its not that big of a deal to make these tail lights.... you just have to be handy with a soldering gun

You are forgetting the fact that some peoples time is worth more than others. There is a least one other led conversion thread around here somewhere. The fact that there are so few should tell you that its not quite as simple as warming up the ol' soldering iron and going to town. Best of luck though.

You could also use fiber optics by using a plastic rod with small grooves cut into the surface to disperse the light. You could also do light etching like frosted glass to create a diffused effect, especially if you lined the back half of the rod with reflective foil.

Clearcorners.com work is FLAWLESS. I've seen a few cars with his lights on them. They are 100% OEM high quality.

Damn those tail lights in the videos are dope. Here is this website I used to buy LEDs from like 5 years ago but looks like they don't sell anything anymore. They did however keep their store up so you can view the details of the products. Might help a little.

I saw these but got my hopes up for nothin due to price, lol. I got quoted 1250 shipped for the smoked versions. Maybe when i have absolutely nothing else to do to my car i will buy them. That 1250 is spent much better elsewhere as of now.

Guys, stop beating yourselves up trying to find out where the SMD LEDs are found. A little bit of searching on the internet will yield the source in less than 5 mins. I will be starting a kouki tail light retrofit in the next couple of months and I have already found all of the LED parts in order to recreate the clearcorners.com product. The hardest part about the retrofit will be making it as clean and OEM-appearing as clearcorners.com!

Mike from clearcorners.com makes a superb product and he has been a leader in the s13 lighting field for years. After gathering the parts for my retrofit, I can't, however, rationalize paying his asking price for the LED tails. This is my opinion and this is MY situation...I'm not bashing his products or his prices for the record.
