Hey guys,

New day, new problems....I had my clutch replaced last year and it has caused a couple of problems. First, my pedal is way too soft. It's like stepping on butter. And the pedal doesn't come back as fast as it should when it's really cold. In other words, it feels like crap! Here are my thoughts on the problem:

1) They installed me a bad clutch2) The fluid they used freezes at low temps3) I probably have some air in the circuit

I'm thinking about bleeding the system. Is it complicated? Do you think it's going to make the pedal harder? Or is the stiffness of the pedal only related to the pressure plate?

They is also a pretty annoying shaking when I drop the clutch on a hill (I also happens on a flat street sometimes). However, it doesn't do it all the time! I had my engine mounts checked and they were still fine. What could this be? Could it be any sensor that I ignore the existemce of? Thanks for any comment!

I just got my clutch replaced with oem parts about two weeks ago and it also felt like butter when i stepped on the clutch... i ask my mechanic if he could make it stiffer or was there something wrong with it.... he told me that's how a new clutch feels and if it's stiffer that means it getten old.... anyways my clutch feel stiffer after being used for a couple of weeks..... i dunno if the helps..... i dunno about the pedal not coming up quickly cause i park my car inside a garge.....

check the bearings for your clutch pedal, I wrote up details in the tech forum, thrad entitled annoying clutch pedal squeeking, something along those lines. That shakin soundslike you aren't givin your girl enough gas, when it shakes like that, give more throttle and see if it goes away.

hopefully that helps, I'll be getting my clutch pedal bearings replaced when I get my clutch done

peace

Thanks for your help, but I think I didn't explain the problem properly. My car really shakes when i drop the clutch on a hill ( like trying to start with the hand brake on). The problem is that sometimes it does it and some times it doesn't do it, so I can't pin point the source of this vibration. Any ideas?

check the driveshaft and make sure the centerbearing hanger is not upside down. if it is then the driveshaft will have more pressure and get odd vibrations during differnt maneuvers. i know cause this happened to me. took me 2 days to figure that out. the bolt point on the hanger are not centered and when its installed the shaft will be higher than if its reversed.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check that out tomorrow and I'll let you know if that's the problem.

been at the pub and just reread my post, sounds kinda unclear to me and i know what i mean so just want to make sure that u know, proper setup will have drive shaft higher that improper mounting. don't want u resetting it with thew shaft mount upside down, cause that'll just make new odd noises etc :) hope u find ur problem, i know its no fun having a car that should be fine and yet is not.

Ok:The stiffness of the clutch IS related to the pressure plate. How it feels once it is broken in depends on whether you machined the flywheel when you changed it. Machining the flywhell is HIGHLY recommended. As for the shaking going downhill, this could be some air in the system. I don't actually know how to bleed the system, but it seems like that might be your best shot.

I know it's a b*tch, but you also might want to take the transmission apart again and replace/machine your flywheel. This helps your pressure plate and other tarns parts last a bit longer. The better shape your flywheel/pressure plate, the easier the clutch pedal flows.Hope that helped :)

Thanks NINJAK84,

I did machine my flywheel when I got it replaced, so I don't think that's the problem. I'll check my engine and transmission mounts to see if they're still in good condition.

Sorry for not following up, but I wanted to put my finger on the exact situation where my car has this problem. I got sucked in traffic last week and the car would shake quite strongly every time I'd drop the clutch. Furthermore, the clutch didn't seem to bite as usual. I think that my clutch is of poor quality. So when it heats up , it loses its grip. Any thoughts on that?
