Quote »We would like to thank everyone who sent us submissions for the 2008 NICO Calendar. We'd also like to thank all of you who purchased one (or more) and supported us through it. If you haven't gotten yours yet, we still have some available, so check out the NICO Store to find out how to get yours! We are now taking submissions to create a new calendar for 2009. As many of you know, the calendar last year turned out to be a "240SX.org Calendar" that was all S13's and S14's. Our goal this year is to create a calendar showing a wider diversity of Nissan/Infiniti/Datsun's that better represents the club as a whole. But in order to do that, we need help from you guys, by sending in submissions for more cars! We were forced to do only the 240SX's last year because of a lack of submissions. There was a little variety last year, but when we came down to the final decisions, we had 10 240SX's, so we chose to go with all 240SX's. So help us out this year, submit your car! If we get enough submissions to do 2 calendars, we will consider doing another 240SX calendar in addition to the NICOclub calendar.
So what does it take to be in this calendar? Here are a few tips and submission requirements that will give you the advantage when we choose the final entries.
1) Take a good picture. Sounds simple, but it isn't. You may have 1000 HP, or the cleanest looking car in the world, but if you take a picture in a parking lot with a rusty Cavalier parked next to you, you're not going to find your car in the 2009 NICO Calendar. Take your time, choose the location of the photograph wisely, and put some thought into it. Try to find a background with matching colors to your paint, and you'll be amazed how great it can make the picture.
2) Use a high quality camera. If you take a picture with your 2 MP camera phone, you're not going to be a calendar finalist. The calendars we print are high quality, and are on-par with a calendar you might find at a chain bookstore, or any typical calendar store in the mall. Nobody wants to see a fuzzy and grainy picture of a car that hurts your eyes to look at.
3) Have the full car in view, but not to the point you need a telescope to see it. If we are showcasing your car, let us showcase it. Don't have the edge of the car chopped off because it was out of the frame of the camera, because we want to see it all! But on the same note, be close enough to it that we can see it. Ideally, the car should take up about 90% of the frame from left to right. Use your own judgment, but looking at a tiny icon in the middle of a 12"x12" page is not amusing.
4) Look to the past for ideas. There is an image on the NICO Store page that shows the 2008 Calendar. It will give you a good idea of what a quality photo looks like.
Requirements:1) Submissions must be 3600 pixels wide but 2700 pixels tall. NO Exceptions! This is equal to 12"x9" at 300 dpi. If your photo is less than these dimensions, it will immediately be thrown out. If it is higher than these dimensions, but in a different aspect ratio, it may be a great photo but will not fit the dimensions of the calendar format and will be no good. Be safe and make it these dimensions.
2) You must send a minimum of 2 photos, one of which will be the main photo. A smaller 2nd photo will be used alongside the main one. The 2nd photo does not need to be the whole car, but can be a part of the car instead. Engine bay shots work well. Obviously, the more photos you send, the better likeliness of making the calendar.
3) You must tell us the following information:First and Last NameForum NameCity, State/Province/Territory, and Country (if outside the U.S.) that you live in.Full Mailing Address (cars chosen will receive a free complimentary calendar)Model Year and ModelEngine CodeList of Modifications *(Modifications are not required for submissions, but if your car has few or no modifications, please substitute this part with a brief history of how you got the car)
Please note that these submissions are open to any vehicle produced by Nissan Motor Corporation, in any part of the world and under any brand name. Engine and/or drivetrain may be produced by any company.
Send all submissions to
by no later than June 29th, 2008. Any submissions after this date will be disregarded. Let's see some nice rides!
